Multimedia and Human Computer Interaction Final Project: Red Riding Hood the Fruit Picker

Project’s Introduction
Red Riding Hood the Fruit Picker is a game that is created using Construct 2. This game is addressed particularly for children who are exposed to the digital technologies and around 6 years old.This game consist of 4 mini games that each of the mini game has one or more levels. Those four mini games cover several areas of children’s abilities, they are: simple calculation game, simple logical game (in this case deciding direction), simple memory game, and simple game to train your focus.

Changes that Are Made
From the proposal that has been posted on this blog on 10 Of October 2017 about Multimedia and Human Computer Interaction Final Project, we decided to make major changes in our game. The first changes is that the game does not cover the language subject anymore, instead we add more children’s areas to cover which are: logic, calculation, memory, and focus. The next changes that we made are the division of the game. We add one more part to the game which means that the game has four parts. Each of the partition of the game will be explained on How to Play the Game section of this report. The last changes that we made is that the instructions and objectives in each of the mini games are in text form, there are no audio involves in order to solve the game.

How to Play the Game
On the start of layout, there will be a menu displayed on the screen which have a start button in the middle of it to start the game. At the bottom of the screen there is a statement stating that none of the properties, pictures, or objects are owned by us instead all of them were taken from other sources on the internet.

Then after the play button is clicked a short story will be shown on the screen. You can either red it or skip it.

After the story finished, there will be choices of games shown on the screen, there are 4 choices or parts of mini games.

If the Fruits game is chosen, there are several mini games regarding fruits that can be chosen.

Each of the mini game has tutorial that will be shown before the game started, for orange, the picture below will be shown on the screen. The left side of the book shows a simple video tutorial of how to play the game. Then, after finished reading the tutorial the game will start.

The game will give the objective in text form and the user might want to memorize it in order to finish the objective.

After knowing the objective, the user has to press enter to continue. The picture below will be shown on the screen after the user press enter.

In this section, the user has to drag the orange several times to the basket according to the number of requested orange. The user can click hint button to show the objective again, click the reset button to reset the number of orange that has been dragged to the basket, or click confirm if the user is sure that he or she has dragged the orange several times as much as the requested oranges. This mini game purpose is to train one’s focus ability.

If the user click the apple on the fruits mini games, the tutorial above will be shown on the screen. The left side of the screen also shows a video of how to play the game.

Then after the user fully understand how to play it, when they press enter the picture above will be shown on the screen. The user is requested to drag the apple to the box on the right side in ordered list with the lowest number of apple at the top and apple with the highest number on the bottom. Then, the user can click confirm to continue the game. This game purpose is to teach mathematics to the children.

If the user click the grape on the fruits mini games, the tutorial above will be shown on the screen. The left side of the screen also shows a video of how to play the game.

After the user press enter key, the picture above will be shown on the screen. The user will be asked to choose two grapes among the four grapes such that the addition of two numbers above the grapes is equal to the requested number. Then, the user can click the confirm button if the addition is true. The purpose of this game is to train children’s ability to do simple mathematical operation, which in this case is summation.

For the last choice on the fruits mini games, which is banana mini game, the tutorial above will be shown on the screen when the user click on the banana. The tutorial is also the same as the rest of the fruit mini games. The left side is a simple video of how to play the game and the right side is the key that is used to play the game.

On the Upper left corner of the screen, there is a timer that shows how many time left does the user have to collect the banana, and on the right corner there are score that will show how much score that the user has gained.

Every time the user finished the game, the game will go back to the scene above which allow the user to choose other types of games. Now, if the user choose the path finding games, a menu that gives you choices of level will appear.

Each time the user begin the path finding game, no matter which level that they choose, the tutorial below will be shown.

The tutorial above consist of a video of how to play the game, the objective of the game and how to play the game. On start of the game, the user will be asked to drag the arrow which determine the direction that will be traversed by red riding hood. After they finished dragging the arrows to the gray box, they can click the start button. Then the red riding hood will start traversing the road. The purpose of this game is to train the children’s logical thinking.

If the user put the wrong direction or hit the fox, the screen above will be shown and the user will go back to the maze and asked to re-drag the arrow to the gray box.

After the user is able to finish the path finding game, the user will be brought back to the game choices menu. If the user click on the maze game, the scene below will be shown.

The tutorial will tell you which key to be pressed in order to move the red riding hood.

After finished reading the tutorial, the user is asked to finish the maze ( go to the red box) on the right hand side. The purpose of this game is to help the children to improve their logic to find the right way.

For the last game, which is the memory game, the user will be asked to memorize a certain list of color in order. Then, they will have to step on the grass that has the same color in ordered list to finish the game.

This is the objective menu that consist of the list of color.

The user can always click the hint button to see the list of color from the objective menu. The purpose of this game is to train children’s ability to memorize things.

For each of the game, the user is allowed to restart the game by pressing the ‘r’ key on the keyboard and the user is also allowed to go back to the game picker by pressing the ‘esc’ key on the keyboard.

Project Division

As this project is made by a team, project division of what to be made must be done. There are several parts that was contributed by me. They are the tutorial for each of the mini games that contains a video, the maze game, path finding game, and color memorizing game. Even though those parts are assigned for me, Aldi also contribute to the logic about how to create a maze generator. Moreover, before the finalized tutorials for the game were made, Aldi has also created a different style of tutorials. Nevertheless, we decided to change the tutorial style to the latest one due to understanding problems (it is hard for children to understand the step of how to play the game using the previous tutorial).

Multimedia and Human Computer Interaction Final Project: Children’s Game

Project’s Introduction

This children’s game is made for children to develop their abilities in two subjects area which are mathematics and language. This game are divided into three parts. The first part is “Direction Game”. In this part the children are given a maze with several road intersections. For each of the intersection, the children must choose the right direction so that the character inside the game can reach the finish line in the maze. Then, after the children finish the first part, they will be led to the second part of the game which is the “Choosing Game”. In this part, the children are given three pictures of fruit and a sentences or audio that ask them to choose a certain fruit. After the children finished this part, they will see the last part of the game which is the “Counting Game”. In this part, there are several apples and an empty fruit basket available on the screen. The objective for the children is to put a certain number of apple to the basket according to audio or text.

Database Final Project: Social Business Combined Game

Getting Started With the Project

First of all, our group got the scenario and the raw program from our lecturer and was given a task to provide the database so that all the data can be easily saved and retrieved.

Then to start with it, our lecturer gave the raw tables that need to be modified so that the most efficient relation can be made. Here is the list of the tables that was given by our lecturer:
